Hello and welcome to my virtual gallery! I am a Minneapolis based sketcher-painter artist working primarily in pen & ink and watercolor. The long winters here encourage plenty of creative time.
Growing up the son of a commercial illustrator father and seamstress/designer mother, I was exposed to art on a daily basis. I see their influences in my work every day. They instilled in me a love for color and a whimsical outlook on the world. I hope this comes through as you look at my drawings and paintings. I am serious but want to have fun too.
My work straddles the line between detail and outline, precision and casualness, relaxation and energy. On top is a love for color and always room for a smile or humor. I think this helps to bring out the personality of each subject. Likewise, in each drawing I am still exploring where I am naturally comfortable in these regions.
My brother said to me; "You have the same confident honest jiggy searching and defining mark as dad"....
I can't think of a better compliment.
